The Independent Order of Odd Fellows (IOOF) constructed a building at 521 First Avenue North (the northeast corner of Broadway and First Avenue) to serve as a meeting hall.
The building was designed by the Orff and Joralemon architectural firm in the Renaissance Revival style. The building was constructed in 1894 (after the devastating fire of 1893).
A third floor was added in 1915-1916 and the upper floors became the Donaldson Hotel.
Today, the building is the Hotel Donaldson.
